Ambarish (Rish) Mitra is Founder & CEO of Blippar. He co-founded the company in 2011 with a vision to create a 'physical world browser' using image recognition technologies. Under Ambarish’s direction, Blippar has grown from groundbreaking idea to a globally trading company that is the leader in consumer augmented reality with 200+ employees, 10 offices and 50 million+ users post its recent acquisition of Layar.

Prior to launching Blippar, Mitra started his tech career in 1997 on the topic of Women Empowerment in India, a portal which successfully IPO'd in year 2000. After moving to the UK he joined a travel startup isango, which was sold to Thomas Cook; he founded a social network called Stuck and in 2009, he became Head of Innovation at AXA Insurance, the driving force behind their mobile strategy. Ambarish holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business with Economics from the University of London.
