Hiro Tamura is a Partner at Atomico, one of Europe's largest venture capital firms. Having joined the firm in 2008, Hiro works closely with Atomico founding Partner Niklas Zennström on carefully guiding Atomico's growth and strategy. Atomico has raised a total of $1.4B across 3 funds, their latest being Atomico Ventures IV which raised a total of $765M on February 15, 2017. Hiro focuses on early stage consumer, fintech, software, as well as leading Atomico's investments in late stage venture. He led Atomico's investment into Compass, Clutter, and Masterclass in the U.S., and MessageBird, Framer, and OneTwoTrip in Europe. He sits on the boards of Clutter, MessageBird, Gympass, SmartNews, OneTwoTrip, Framer, and Quid.

Having worked on the global expansion of Skype, including hands-on operational experience successfully launching and scaling the company in the Japanese market, Hiro has over 15 years experience in helping fast growth technology companies expand internationally as both an investor and an operator. Before he joined Atomico, Hiro co-founded a investment firm based in Tokyo, deploying over $300 million into Asia-based investments. He also founded Triple Junction, the technology consultancy that helped Skype grow its business rapidly in Japan and throughout the Asia Pacific region. Hiro is a Japanese national with a BA in Economic and International Studies from Northwestern University and is now based in London.
