Synap is a mobile and web app, founded by medical students James Gupta and Omair Vaiyani, that allows students and professionals to prepare for exams by taking quizzes that are developed by other members of the Synap community. The app, already used by medical students at Oxford and business students at the London School of Economics, uses AI algorithms to tailor lessons and revision schedules for individual students. It has been listed as one of the 10 British AI startups to look out for in 2016 by Business Insider magazine. After closing a £200,000 seed round in October 2015, the duo hope to launch fully in September 2016 and are looking for premium content partners to work with. James currently holds an MSc in Health Informatics and hopes to qualify as a doctor from the University of Leeds in 2017. He is also a Director of Doctorpreneurs, the global community for medical entrepreneurs.
