Finance Trailblazers – Asian Women Leading the Way

On 18th November 2024, the London Stock Exchange (LSEG) Asian Affinity Network (AAN) in partnership with Goldman Sachs, Bain & Co., JP Morgan, Citi, and Chinese Women in the City hosted a Finance Trailblazers – Asian Women Leading the way event. The mission was to celebrate women leaders through open and honest dialogue with an esteemed panel of women who have blazed a trail and left a path for others to be inspired by, learn from, and take action.

The event kicked off with a TED Talk-style presentation by Lin Yue, Head of Strategic Trustees Business, UK Institutional Business, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, titled “The Art of Being Different.” Her openness about her experience transitioning from China to the UK was particularly impactful, detailing how the same individual can be perceived differently in various contexts. She emphasised that success is attainable for everyone, regardless of their background, by adopting a positive mindset and embracing our differences.

The talk was followed by a panel discussion and Q&A session. Topics of the panel discussion ranged from the unique perspectives and strengths that Asian women leaders bring to the financial services industry, personal success stories of overcoming cultural and gender barriers, and the leadership strategies of the panellists, including:

  • Sabina Liu (moderator) – Securities Trading Head of APAC·Sales and Marketing, LSE Cash Secondary Markets and Turquoise
  • Nishma Gosrani OBE, Partner at Bain & Company, Global Stratos Leader
  • Divya Samani, Managing Director, Global Head of Securities Lending Post Trade Services and Regional Head of Securities Lending & Inventory Management MO, Goldman Sachs
