The Europas Awards for European tech startups go virtual

The Europas Awards for European tech startups is doing what everyone in tech has done before: pivoting! Given the COVID-19 pandemic, The Europas will be ‘going virtual’ on a new platform, to be unveiled, with a percentage of proceeds from the event being donated to charities across Europe helping to fight the pandemic.

Judging will be entirely virtual and the awards themselves will be announced live on 25th June 2020 at an online event which will feature special guests, and live entertainment — so we can celebrate the hard work of startups and come together at this extraordinary time. All long-listed companies in the People’s Vote will be showcased on TechCrunch, which once more the exclusive media sponsor of the awards and conference, alongside The Pathfounder.

Of key interest to startups short-listed in the awards will be the opportunity to attend over 20 workshops built around the awards categories to which investors will be invited. That’s 20+hours of programming. Shortlisted companies will be able to pitch live on the platform, with slides. In addition the “Pathfounder Sessions” will offer exclusive workshops with specially invited guests, aimed at European startups raising money at this time. The complete agenda is here.

The series of events will include the online public voting stage, and in addition we will also be producing the following:

‘State of the Nation’ event series: A look at your particular industry sector. Invited guests will include top investors, industry experts and more established startups who will take a deep dive into how Covid-19 is impacting the industry and what the future holds, followed by a Q+A.

Pitch event: Shortlisted startups will be invited to pitch live to gathered attendees in their sector event.

Workshops: Practical workshops which will focus around how the current situation is impacting the usual startup challenges of PR, fundraising, negotiating with VCs and more.

Networking: We have put in place a secure software solution for the online event, which also lets all attendees to network on the event app.
