Amali de Alwis MBE
Amali de Alwis MBE is a serial entrepreneur, and tech startup business leader. She is currently a portfolio NED and tech startup business consultant; prior to which she was most recently CEO at Subak, the world's first not-for-profit accelerator and data community that scales climate impact through data, policy and public behaviour.
Amali started her career studying manufacturing engineering and commerce at the University of Birmingham, before studying Product Development and Design at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. She enrolled on the Graduate Program at Clarks Shoes, following which she joined TNS Kantar as a quant research consultant advising global FMCG and then financial services organisations on stakeholder management and digital strategies. Amali spent four years at TNS Kantar before joining PwC as a Research, and then Thought Leadership Manager. She left PwC to join Entrepreneur First sister company Company Code First:Girls as their first CEO to build the company. This was followed by a role as UK Managing Director of Microsoft for Startups UK, before joining Subak and then moving into a portfolio NED and tech startup consultant this year.
Outside of the day job, Amali is a Board member at the Raspberry Pi Foundation, the abrdn Charitable Foundation, and Ada National College for Digital Skills. She was a founding member at Tech Talent Charter, was named as 'The most Influential woman in UK IT' by Computer Weekly, and was awarded an MBE in 2019 in the New Year's Honours list for Services to Diversity and Training in the Tech Industry.
