Amit Patel is the Founder of Hlthie, a digital insurtech startup fixing Health Insurance. Prior to that he was Director at Black Swan Advisors, a consultancy supporting boards, investors and founders of early to growth stage companies in the healthcare, health tech, insurance & life sciences sectors. From 2016-2019, Amit was Director of New Ventures at BUPA, responsible for incubating, testing and scaling innovative and compelling business opportunities and customer propositions with an entrepreneurial “lean start-up” modus operandi to deliver profit growth.

A doctor by profession, he studied medicine at the University of Bristol and became a member of The Royal College of Surgeons of England taking up his first role as Registrar (Surgery) in Manchester. He left medicine to join LEK Consulting, working on 80+ client engagements developing corporate strategy and providing mergers and acquisitions support across life sciences, healthcare and financial services, prior to joining BUPA.
