JP Rangaswami
JP Rangaswami is a renowned speaker, economist, financial journalist, technology innovator and blogger, who retired in September 2018 from being Chief Data Officer at Deutsche Bank where he played a key role in supporting its digital strategy. Originally an economist and financial journalist, JP Rangaswami has spent most of his career working in FinTech. He joined Deutsche Bank from Salesforce.com, the world's largest provider of customer relationship-management software, where he was Chief Scientist since 2010. He is a Director & Trustee of the Web Science Trust and Adjunct Professor, Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. He also writes the confusedofcalcutta.com blog about information which is his passion.
JP Rangaswami was born in Calcutta and lived there before emigrating to the United Kingdom in 1980. He studied at St. Xavier's College, University of Calcutta, where he earned an Honours Degree in Economics and Statistics. He began his career at BT Group in a variety of technology roles including Chief Scientist, and prior to that was Global Chief Information Officer at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. He made the Wired 100 in 2010 ranked 18th in the list. More recently, he was ranked 4th in Computer Weekly's 2013 list of the most influential people in IT.
