Pathik Pathak joined the University of Southampton in October 2010 as Lecturer in Sociology. In January 2012, he became the Director for Undergraduate Programmes. He is also currently Faculty Director of Social Enterprise and Director of The University Social Entrepreneurship Programme. Pathik previously studied at Southampton as an undergraduate and completed his MA and PhD at the University of Warwick. His doctoral thesis was successfully translated into his first monograph, The Future of Multicultural Britain: Confronting the Progressive Dilemma (Edinburgh University Press, 2008). Between then and re-joining the department, he started and directed social enterprises in Mumbai and London. Pathik’s current research is concerned with urban transformations and social innovation, with a methodological interest in co-production and action research, an empirical focus on cities in the global South, and non-representational theory. He also directs the University’s Social Innovation Challenge Series and our International Social Innovation Challenges.
