Shakil Khan (Shak) is head of special projects at Spotify, the award-winning digital music service that gives on-demand access to over 20 million tracks. A serial entrepreneur, Shakil was part of the founding team at buy.at, which was acquired by AOL in 2008, and he recently founded bitcoin news site CoinDesk. Shakil is fluent in several languages, heavily involved in charity work – including projects with charity: water and Pencils of Promise – and was an investor and mentor to Summly founder Nick D’Aloisio. Since January 2012, he has also been an advisor to Horizon Ventures, a venture capital firm based in Hong Kong with a focus on disruptive and technology-focused start-ups. Shakil has also invested in a host of startups including Hello, Humin, Spring Inc, Bit Pay inc, Duedil, Top 10, SecondMarket Inc, Skift, YPlan, Invi, Localini, Summly and Blackjet.
