Sriram Subramanian
Sriram Subramanian is Co-Founder of Metasonics, a Bristol-based startup developing the next generation of customised, scalable acoustic metamaterials, changing the way we use and interact with sound. Prior to his, he was co-founder of Ultrahaptics; the first company to give users the ability to touch and feel objects in mid-air using ultrasound waves to create haptics. In 2016, Ultrahaptics won the Royal Academy of Engineering award for outstanding contributions to engineering in the last 4 years. In 2018, Professor Subramanian was named a Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) Chair in Emerging Technologies to develop novel acoustic interfaces.
He is also a Professor of Informatics at the University of Sussex, where he leads a research group on novel interactive systems. He is passionate about researching new forms of interactive device that will help expand their users' input and output bandwidth. Before joining Sussex, he was a Professor of Human-computer Interaction at the University of Bristol and prior to this a senior scientist at Philips Research Netherlands.
