Zia Yusuf is the Co-Founder & CEO of Velocity, a VIP concierge app with a range of services targeted at the cash-rich, time-poor consumer, an untapped global premium market worth $5 trillion. Its mission is to harness human and machine potential to empower people to live their most meaningful lives. In 2016, Velocity Black launched as the ultimate digital members club offering an array of privileges, from upgrades at thousands of the best hotels, to savings of 20-30% on business and first class flights. The Velocity app also links with restaurant till systems to let diners pay for their meals within the app, without having to request the bill.
Having secured $22.5m of Series B funding in Summer 2016 and a total of $39m of invested capital from investors such as DIG Investment, Barry Sternlicht - founder of Starwood Hotels - and Spark Capital, Velocity is one of the fastest growing technology companies in the world, featured in Forbes, GQ, Wired, CNBC, and winning Apple's Best of 2015 award. The London-headquartered startup has signed up over 1000 restaurants in New York, London, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Toronto and more, including Hix, Burger & Lobster, Sketch, and the Cuckoo Club in the UK. Velocity grew revenue 848% in 2018, making it the fastest growing company in the UK with revenues in excess £2.6 m according to the Beauhurst Growth Report. Zia, a London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) graduate with a BSc in International Relations, previously worked for Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs before setting up Velocity.
