Top 100 Asian Stars in UK Tech list to showcase the creative industries
The Top 100 Asian Stars in UK Tech 2018 list will showcase Britain’s creative industries by selecting the top 5 leaders in the sector at its launch on 4th June 2018. Britain’s creative industries generated £92bn in 2016, according to the figures published by the Department for Digital, Media, Culture and Sport (DCMS), and are growing at twice the rate of the economy. The sector now makes up more than five per cent of the UK economy’s GVA. Much of the increase has been driven by a boom in the computer services sub-sector. While this includes video games, it also covers wider digital industries.

Nominations for the list which is published by Diversity UK in association with the Ethnic Minority Foundation, KPMG and NewAsianPost, close on 31st March 2018. List compiler and curator, Lopa Patel MBE, Founder & CEO of Diversity UK, said “now in its fourth year, the list celebrates the contribution made by British Asians to this country’s digital economy. In previous years we have highlighted social entrepreneurs, edtech and fintech so it seemed appropriate to focus on the creative industries this year”.
5th category for the Top 100 Asian Stars in UK Tech list
“ I hope all those working in the interactive advertising and marketing sector, gaming, the arts, museums, galleries, media, sports, fashion, film, tv, streaming and design industries will consider nominating themselves or others they know. Combined with the existing categories of Business, Investors, StartUps and Women, the list makes for very compelling reading”.
Shortlisted list nominees make valuable connections at the launch event – which will be held on 4th June 2018 – to help fund or scale their business; are recognised in industry publications and go on to win other competitions and awards. Each year, the Chair of the judging panel also recognises an individual with the coveted Chairman’s Award which is presented at the launch event in June. Previous winners of the Chairman’s Award include surgeon and VR evangelist Professor Shafi Ahmed who was honoured with the Chairman’s Award in 2017; Shankar Narayanan, Head of UK & Ireland for Tata Consultancy Services received the award in 2016 and Dinesh Dhamija, Chairman of Copper Beech Group and previously Founder of ebookers who was recognised in 2015.
Nominations close on 31st March 2018
The aim is to showcase the wealth of talent on the British digital scene; from startup founders, creatives, social entrepreneurs, technologists, venture capital and angel investors to the policy makers and game changers. The key objective is to address the perceived lack of diversity in the tech sector by highlighting the business models, funding and support networks being created by these Asian digital entrepreneurs.
