London Tech Week 2019 Dinner
The London Tech Week 2019 Dinner, in support of Founders4Schools who connect today’s young people to leaders in their community to solve tomorrow’s problems, was organised by Informa Tech at the iconic grounds of the Tower of London on Monday 10th June 2019. It was an exclusive networking with London Tech Week Ambassadors, pioneering tech leaders, futurists and innovators for an evening of dinner, drinks and entertainment.
One of the biggest challenges facing the tech industry today is the talent gap. Despite the huge success of the tech sector, the shortage of digital skills is impacting companies in delivering digital strategy and maintaining market leadership. This challenge does not just impact the UK but is a worldwide phenomenon and can only be addressed by collective engagement around three core pillars:
- Homegrown Talent: The need to educate the next generation with some urgency as we see that the number of tech graduates is falling despite demand.
- International Talent: In the year of Brexit how can we encourage world class international talent to join technology companies to build the UK digital economy
- Inclusive Talent: Filling the skills gap by making tech more inclusive – reshaping what it means to have a job in technology today and making tech accessible to women, BAME, LGBT and older professionals
London Tech Week has always had talent as a focus of its agenda. In this key year, London Tech Week is highlighting the talent agenda further by putting it at the heart of the main social event and supporting Founders4Schools. The Opening Dinner provided an evening of invaluable networking and key insights to address these three core pillars, with a view to drive greater access to the tech profession.
